It all started in 2020, when two friends, Cydwel and Nidhi, decided to give shape to their life long dream of becoming entrepreneurs. With a shared love for handcrafted and artisanal things, they decided to make a product that would not only give a platform to our country's skilled artisans but also would have great design sensibility at affordable costs, and thus began the journey of Moy.
Every Moy product has a special journey and all the products take weeks of dedicated work and immense craftsmanship before they are ready. Right from creating designs, finding the perfect embellishments, highest quality fabric is all done with lots of love and precision. Sustainability, unique artistry and artisanal inspiration are the three pillars on which lies the foundations of Moy.
Team Behind Moy
Cydwel
A former HR professional, Cydwel's journey has been a fascinating one. Coming from a dainty village in Goa, she always dreamt of carving her own niche in a competitive world. Though having a cushy job, she always felt the desire to nurture a brand, and therein began her entrepreneurial quest. With no prior experience in the fashion industry, but only self belief, Cydwel took the plunge and quit her job to focus on building a fashion brand.
Nidhi
Nidhi always nurtured a deep desire to be an entrepreneur. However, coming from a family of salaried professionals, meant, finding a good job took precedence, which led her to join corporate and then lectureship. It was only while teaching Women Entrepreneurship to her MBA students, that the latent desire of being an entrepreneur, came to the fore and Nidhi decided to give shape to her lifelong dreams.
Together, they recognise each other's individual skills by taking pride and complementing each other in sharing the same vision, 'Moy'!
Chaman
While the initial designs are created by Cydwel & Nidhi, it is our embroidery kaarigar - Chaman Ji who brings to life these designs by his and his team's impeccable embroidery skills. Chaman comes from a small hamlet in Bareilly and has been doing embroidery for the last 15 years, no wonder his mastery in this skill!
Sunil
After a long hunt for skilled Jutti stiching artisans, we were very lucky to have found Sunil. Not only is he extremely good with his work, he also advises us on the type of material that can be used, the innovations that can be done, and is always willing to implement experimental designs, while maintaining the highest levels of quality all the way! He is truly a master at bringing together the final product.
Arshad
Based in the city of Jaipur, Arshad and his family have been in the shoe making business for decades. They are our kaarigars for making Moy Kolhas, Sliders and Mules. With their deep knowledge in shoe making by hand, we look upto them for guidance on getting the right anti slip and sturdy soles, the right cushioning etc. Having said that, they are always eager to try new designs and new techniques brought forth to them.
